Workshops
on
27th April, 2010
Uniwersytet Rzeszowski, ul. Dekerta 2 (Pałac Lubomirskich)
Room No 1

16:15 – 16:30 Registration
16:30 – 17.30 Classroom Activities from Scratch (60 mn)
Is that coffee‐stained activity folder starting to look dated? Have you ever been
asked to come up with some last‐minute needs‐specific role‐plays? If you
answered ʹyesʹ to these questions, then this is the talk for you. From hurricanes to
gastric veins, from sound bites to bear bites, together we will explore numerous
routes of inspiration and the steps you can take to develop activities that will put
the buzz back into your classroom. The only thing you need to bring to this
workshop is your creativity.
17:30 – 17:45 Coffee break
17:45 – 18:45 Using Pecha Kuchas in the Classroom (60mn)
The Pecha Kucha (ペチャクチャ) usually pronounced ʺpe‐chak‐chaʺ, is a
presentation format in which a presenter shows 20 slides at 20 seconds each for a
total speaking time of 6 minutes, 40 seconds. Pecha Kuchas have recently become
popular traditions at international teacher conferences (e.g. IATEFL and TESOL).
In this talk, I will demonstrate how the Pecha Kucha can be adapted for classroom
use and help spice up student presentations.
