The British Council Announcement

The British Council would like to support the involvement of Teacher Associations from round the world to participate directly in the IATEFL conference in Brighton 15-19th April 2011.

Chosen representatives would need to fulfil the following criteria:

- never having been to IATEFL before

- with influence in ELT in their country and able to make decisions on behalf of the EL profession

- particularly from countries where teacher associations are active but that are not normally well-represented at the IATEFL conference

During the conference, representatives will be expected to participate in a British Council networking event and IATEFL Associates' day, and also disseminate their learning and experience at the conference back to members of their associations.

The British Council funding will cover travel expenses, visas, conference fees, accommodation and subsistence in the UK.

Though timing is tight, we would encourage nominated representatives also to submit proposals for presentations at the conference, though it is not expected that every representative should do so. The deadline for proposals is 17th September.

If you are interested, please send your names, email addresses and your affiliations to monika.knapkiewicz@britishcouncil.pl, with a note on how you fulfil the criteria above by Monday 13th September. Where representatives would also like to submit a speaker proposal for the conference, please include a word document with this proposal. We will ensure that proposals are submitted through IATEFL’s online registration system by the deadline.
